Mediterranean Masks

Black wooden faces, wool costumes and heavy bells belong to Mamoiada’s mamuthones, figures carried through a winter ritual. The museum places these Sardinian masks beside ritual masks from across the Mediterranean, showing how many traditions turn a human face into something strange.
