Three falls occupy the southern end of the Niagara Gorge: Horseshoe Falls straddles the Canada–United States border, while American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls stay in the United States. At peak daytime tourist hours, more than 168,000 cubic metres of Niagara River water passes over the falls every minute. The river carries water from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
