Before you open it
I already have a scratch map, or an app that counts countries.
Then you already know the best part — watching the map fill up. The difference is what the map is connected to. This one hands out quests in the places you have not been yet, verifies that you actually got there, narrates what you are standing in front of, and turns a country on your wishlist into a day-by-day route. A scratch map is the scoreboard. This is the scoreboard plus everything that moves the number. Laid out side by side: replacing a scratch map, and the country-counter apps compared.
Do I need an account?
No. The map, the audioguides, the quest catalogue and the planner all open without one. Sign in with Google or Apple — or as a guest — when you want your countries, saved routes, credits and streak to follow you between devices.
Is there anything to install?
No. GetMap runs in the browser on a phone or a laptop. Add it to your home screen if you want it a tap away.
Where do the audioguides come from?
The places are the real ones around wherever you have the map pointed, with their Google rating and review count. The narration is written and voiced on demand, which is why a place nobody has opened before takes a few seconds the first time you press play. English for now.
How does a quest check-in work?
You take a photo at the spot and upload it. Your browser reads the photo’s own geotag and measures the distance to the quest point — inside 200 m it counts, and the check-in pays points and a category skill. Photos without location data cannot be verified.
How accurate are the walking routes?
Legs between stops are routed on real streets with real walking times and distances. When routing is unavailable for a leg, GetMap falls back to a straight-line estimate and labels the day’s summary as estimated rather than quietly guessing.
What does PRO change, and what about refunds?
PRO lifts the limits: trips up to 30 days instead of 3, a monthly allowance of credits for AI route plans, every audioguide instead of five a month, the hidden quests and deal alerts without the delay.
